Proving the Credibility of God
And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 1 Peter 1:19
Daniel was troubled. Jeremiah had prophesied that the captivity of the Jews would last for 70 years. However, Daniel had just been given a vision with a time span of 2300 years. God sent Gabriel to teach and encourage Daniel. We should also be encouraged when we read and study prophecy. God gave us prophets so we would have hope for the future. We can see in the Daniel 2 how God had his hand over the rise and fall of kingdoms and dominions. In the same way we can be absolutely certain that he has a forever future planned for us.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13
