The Holiness of God and His Covenants
The thought of judgement fire coming down from heaven sounds scary, but the reality of God Himself coming down from heaven is way more powerful – how will we will be able to stand in His presence on that day? King David put it this way in Psalms 24, verses 3 to 6:
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
They will receive blessing from the Lord,
and vindication from the God of their salvation.
Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
The apostle Paul shares this assurance with us in Colossians 3:2-4:
Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
