Leftovers

Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.Isaiah 55:2

If Jesus came to our house would we serve him leftovers? Are we only giving Jesus what is left of our money after we have bought everything that we want. The things of this earth will never be satisfying. We can spend our time, our money, and our talents, in order to try to gain happiness, but nothing will ever satisfy us. They will all leave us empty. God has something better. If we give God our best, if we give him our heart, if we give him everything we have, we will find we will have more than we can ever imagine. We can never out give God. Are we giving God the leftovers or is he getting first place in our heart. God gives himself to everyone freely. All we have is nothing compared to Jesus Christ and what he has done for us.

“A revival of godliness among us is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs. To seek this should be our first work. There must be earnest effort to obtain the blessing of the Lord, not because God is not willing to bestow His blessing upon us, but because we are unprepared to receive it. Our heavenly Father is more willing to give His Holy Spirit to them that ask Him, than are earthly parents to give good gifts to their children. But it is our work, by confession, humiliation, repentance, and earnest prayer, to fulfill the conditions upon which God has promised to grant us blessing. A revival need be expected only in answer to prayer.”E. G. White1 Selected Messages pg 121
