Dealing with the Unforeseen

Joseph. If you feel like your life’s had its series of ups and downs, come and have a closer look at the life of Joseph.  Favourite son of Jacob’s favourite wife, best dressed kid on the block, but perhaps a little spoiled and naive. His brother’s didn’t like him. even to the point of making him disappear. Some of us have had a brother like this, but luckily Joseph’s oldest brother had a little more compassion than the rest.

So now Joseph is a slave in Egypt, but he soon rises to the most trusted slave in a powerful household, and then crash…he’s in prison…and worse off than when he started. But all this time God was in control and Joseph was being trained to be second in command of the whole of Egypt during a time of crisis. It says a lot of Joseph that he used his new position of power to save his family, including those very brothers who were willing to see him die.

We can’t see into the unforeseen, but God can.

And Joseph was brought down to Egypt. And Potiphar, a eunuch of Pharaoh, the chief of the executioners, an Egyptian man, bought him… Gen 39:1
